Your details, plainly.
What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it changed or deleted. Updated 27 October 2026.
Who we are
FOR YOUR USB sends unreleased electronic music to DJs, radio hosts and press. We decide how your details are used, which makes us the data controller. Questions or requests: hello@foryourusb.com, or write to FOR YOUR USB, 22 Anglia Crescent, Worcester WR5 3UX.
What we collect
If you sign up: your name, artist name, email, the genres you play, where you play, your Instagram, SoundCloud or other link, and your radio show or podcast if you have one.
If we add you ourselves: professional contact details you’ve made public or shared with us in the music industry, such as a booking or promo email and your artist name.
When you get a promo: whether it was delivered, an estimate of whether it was opened (from images loading), whether you visited the listen page, which tracks you played and how far, your reviews, and your downloads. We keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, never the address itself, and the type of device or app used.
Why, and on what basis
Sign-ups: your consent, confirmed by the link in our confirmation email. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Industry contacts we add: our legitimate interest in getting new music to the people who play it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we stop straight away if you use it.
Engagement and reviews: to send each release only to people who play that kind of music, to send less to people who don’t engage, and to give artists and labels feedback on their music.
Who sees it
The artist or label whose music it is may see your reviews, with your artist name, and whether you played or downloaded their tracks. We never sell your details or share your email address for anyone else’s marketing.
The services we run on, only to provide FOR YOUR USB and under contract: Amazon Web Services (sending email), Cloudflare (storing music and artwork), Vercel (hosting) and Neon (database). Some of them store data outside the UK, including in the USA; where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK’s approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
While you’re on the list. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you at once and keep only your email address on a do-not-email list, so you’re never added back by mistake. Ask us and we’ll delete everything else, including your reviews and listening history.
Cookies
The public pages set no cookies and use no analytics or advertising trackers. The only cookie we use keeps our own team signed in to the dashboard.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your details, ask us to correct or delete them, object to how we use them, or ask us to stop emailing you. Email hello@foryourusb.com and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
